Logging in to Slim

The website that Mrs. Lira told me to use to get flash for quite a cheap price is called Slim. I tried to log in with my school email but this didn't work with the instructions that Mrs. Lira gave me. I went back to her and she told me that I should try selecting student instead of medewerker because my school email ends in @ishweb.nl and not in @ishthehague.nl. This meant that I would not be able to log in as a medewerker. I tried this and I was able to log in.

I then looked around the website to see if I could find the right version of flash that I need to make the animation. I was not sure which I would need so I asked my parents but they said that it would be better  if I asked the computer teacher so that I wouldn't make a mistake and waste all that money for nothing. There are a lot of different versions of flash and they are for both for Mac and Windows computers so I need to figure out which one I need. I decided that I would go and talk to that teacher and ask about the flash before I did anything else.

Reply from Mrs. Lira

I sent an email to Mrs. Lira about being able to get flash from the school and she replied saying that there was a website that the school used to get different software for a cheap price. She said she would try to find the password for me to use so that I could log in with my school email address.

Email to Mrs Lira

I sent an email to see if I could get adobe flash from the school because I had experimented a little with pencil and it will take a lot longer to make my video because it is a very simple program and there are not a lot of different options. It would go a lot faster if I could use flash. This is why I sent an email to Mrs. Lira (one of the computer teachers) to see if this was possible.

New Personal Project Proposal

As Mrs. Bergman said I should do in the email she sent me I changed some last few things in my proposal, such as the target audience of my video because she said that 10-18 was to big of a range. This is why I changed it to 13-14 year olds. These are the students that are in year 9.

Reply from Mrs. Bergman

Mrs. Bergman replied to the email I sent about my changed personal project proposal to see if my project was now suitable for the Approaches to Learning, Area of Interaction. This is what she said:

Email to Mrs. Bergman

I sent an email to Mrs. Bergman, asking her if she could look at my personal project proposal again because I changed it a little an she didn't approve my AOI. I think that this was because I worded my proposal in a strange way, which is why I changed it.

Personal Project Proposal

As my project was not approved and I didn't think that approaches to learning was a good AOI for my project, I changed my personal project proposal a little because I think that I worded my aim in a strange way, which made the head of ATL skills believe that this wasn't the right AOI for my project. This is what I changed my project proposal to:

Pencil (software)

When I first started with this project I thought that I was going to use flash to make my animation and then use Imovie to finish it off and make the audio. However it turns out that I don't have flash on my computer so I looked at some other possibilities and I found:

  • XPivot Animator 3.5
  • Pencil
These two are both very good for making my animation, but XPivot Animator is only for Windows and not for Mac. This is why I downloaded Pencil and tried it out. It works really well once you have the hang of it.

Before I am going to start drawing my animation on Pencil I am going to make sketches by hand. I am also going to finish my research before I start drawing on Pencil.

Frames to start making the animation for the Back Handspring

I took the best video I had of the flick flack and I made 21 frames of the most important stages in the flip. I am going to print these out and then trace them to make the basis for my animation. Here are the  frames that I made from the video.

Meeting with Supervisor

Today during lunch I had my first meeting with my supervisor, Mrs. Maaswinkel. We talked about the things that I had already done in the project and about how I planned to complete it. We also discussed some of the things that she thought I should change a little, such as my research question. She said I should make it more focused and change it into something like: "Will making a video about different free running flips in which the muscles used are labeled with different colours help improve people's flips?"

We also discussed that I needed to go and talk to the head of ATL skills because she said that it would be better if I did heath and social education. I think that she doesn't understand the main focus of my project and I am going to try and schedule a meeting with her to discuss this with her. I will ask her if she still thinks that I would be better of doing another of the approaches to learning or if she just didn't understand fully what the main focus of my project was.
